We've spent a history-filled and unusually warm (high 70s) day in Bergen, a beautiful port town on the North Sea. The history lessons regarding 1700s trading (mostly cod) between Norway, England, Russia and Belgium have ended with a tram ride to the top of Mt. Floyen, beers, sodas cheesecake and awesome views. It's 7pm and sunset is still hours away. I think we'll wait...
Looks like a great spot to enjoy a brew. Drink one or maybe two for me and enjoy the sunset.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day! We ventured into Bergen by driving an hour to Arna and then took the train to Bergen. Forget free toilets we had to pay 10 Kroner to use the stinky water closets. Leaving the train station we walked right out to the park surrounding Lille Lungegardsvann. After lunching with the Norwegians on their noon day break. We set out by foot to see the sights and cobblestone streets of Bergen. Our self guided walking tour took us by the Grieghallen the city's art museum, up hill to the Johanneskirken church, down to the harbor where at the fish market Madelyn was thought to be a Norwegian, to tours of the Rosenkrantztarnet and it's gardens to a self guided tour of Hanseatisk Museum giving a glimpse of life as a merchant. The day ended with the cable car ride on the Floi Banen to see the view of the city. We skipped the cable car ride and did the 45 minute walk down the hill.
