Location: Plane from Zurich to Oslo
Time: 6:08 PM (Switzerland Time)
The time is 6:08 PM, and we arrived at the SFO International Terminal around 6:00 PM Pacific Time. Even though we haven't truly traveled for 24 hours, it sure as heck feels like it. These past "24" (technically 15) hours have been a whirlwind of Dad's constant instruction on "the plan" for when we reach certain checkpoints (nagging might be the better word but we are all a bit on edge and I don't want to make any enemies seeing as we have an 8 hour car ride in a small European station wagon through the mountains in the Norwegian countryside tomorrow), Mom's attempt to get us all to appreciate that "the blog is one of her best ideas yet!!!" by constantly showing us the email chain and comments (pretty sure that these Europeans have never heard someone talk so loud in their lives. I guess that's cultural diffusion at its finest.), Charlie's strict safety lectures (I've been told that not watching the safety videos with full attentiveness is unacceptable. Even if I already watched the last two. Oh, and reviewing the safety card is not only a mandatory precaution but also a surprising source of at least 2.5 hours of entertainment, at least for Chazz. Gotta love that kid.), and Ben's attitude which so far seems to parallel that which he has in Disneyland (for many of you that may seem like a good sign, it is not. Disneyland, and now apparently the Swiss Airline, is the one place in which he is incredibly grumpy. We are all hoping this is mostly due to lack of sleep... we don't want "the Disneyland" to be upon us for the entirety of this trip....). The regular "looney bin" of Francesconi antics aside, it has been relatively smooth travels but I'm hoping for a change of clothes, space from these people I've been touching elbows with for the past 15 hours, some food that doesn't come in a reheated styrofoam can, and maybe some WiFi. Is that so much to ask? Miss you all.
XOXO,
Madelyn
