Things I learned about in Prague

If you need to get your internal plumbing going while traveling eat a pile of horseradish for lunch.

Study the geography before you sign up for an all day bike tour and don't wait to learn that Prague is the city of nine hills and that the tour you signed up for included biking up at least four of them. (There was no whining from the peanut gallery.)

Cobblestone streets are quaint, but they wreak havoc on your roller bags, your 46 year old bones and they are like ice cubes when doused with a rain shower and you are lucky not break your neck while walking.

Pig knuckle is fine to try for lunch but I don't need to eat it again.

Czech churches are full on Sunday with standing room only crowds. However, no one warned us about the communion free for all where every man, woman and child makes a beeline for the alter regardless of row. And don't be surprised when someone steals your seat upon return, perhaps this addition of musical chairs is boosting attendance.

The beer continues to be awesome with each bar featuring only one brew per pub house. My favorite was the beers brewed by the Prague monks at the monastery at the castle. (Special mention to the Budweiser brew not from St. Louis but from Budweiser, Czech and the unfiltered
ones were quite good as well.)

The Billa supermarket has been my favorite so far - low prices, friendly checkers and you get to weigh and tag your own fruits and veggies.

People in Prague are extremely nice and friendly which is great but the language barrier is existent and often tough to overcome.

For some reason the Prague fashion gods have smiled on and approved on men wearing bathing suits as shorts.

Prague as a city is the most picturesque, friendly, affordable city we visited and I can't wait to return again.
